Getting started

What is 5yMail?

5yMail is a web service that sends emails for you without showing your real email address or your IP address to the recipient. You write your message on our website, and we deliver it from our servers.

Is 5yMail free?

Yes. You can send up to 10 anonymous emails a day for free, to one recipient at a time. A one-time payment, from $4 for 30 days, raises the limit to 1,000 emails a day and adds features such as attachments and replies. See our free and paid plans.

Do I need an account?

No, you can send a free email without an account. With a free account, you can also see the emails you have sent and choose your settings. Create a free account.

How do I send an anonymous email?

Enter your recipient's address, a subject, your message and the sender name you want to show, then send it. Our How it works page explains each step.

Privacy and anonymity

What does my recipient see?

The sender name you chose, our sender address, your subject and your message. Your real email address and your IP address are never shown. Free emails also end with a short line about 5yMail.

Can anyone find out that I sent the email?

Your recipient cannot see who you are from the email itself. We do record the IP address used to send each message, and we disclose information that could identify you only when the law requires it, for example under a court order. See our Terms and Conditions.

Why does my email show "via" or "on behalf of"?

Some email programs show this when an email is sent through a server that is not the usual one for the sender's domain. Read why it happens and how to avoid it.

Features

Can my recipient reply?

Yes, your recipient simply clicks Reply. Replies arrive in your 5yMail inbox, where you can read and answer them anonymously with a Normal subscription. You can also be notified by email when a reply arrives: see your notification settings.

Will I know if my email was read?

With a Normal subscription, you can turn on read tracking to see when your email is opened. It works only when the recipient's email program loads images. Follow your emails in Sent messages, and see Understanding Email Status for what each status means.

Can I send attachments or email several people at once?

Yes, with a Normal subscription: up to 5 attachments of up to 20 MB each, several recipients, and Cc and Bcc. Free emails go to one recipient, without attachments.

Can I choose the From address?

Yes, with a Normal subscription. To help your emails reach the inbox, set up SPF and DKIM for your domain. Why DKIM and SPF matter.

How long can my message be?

Up to 10,000 characters.

Can I schedule an email for later?

Yes. With a Normal subscription, you can choose the date and time your email is sent.

Can I send bulk emails or use an API?

Yes. The API subscription adds our bulk email service and our API, with 250 to 10,000 emails a day depending on the plan. It requires an active Normal subscription. To send from your own applications and email programs, see our SMTP service.

Payments

How can I make a payment?

You can pay by credit or debit card through PayPal or Stripe. You can also pay with cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Dogecoin, Ethereum (ETH) and USDC, or even with an Amazon Gift Card. See every option on our payment page. Card and PayPal payments activate your plan automatically.

Will I be charged again automatically?

No. Every plan is a one-time payment for the period you choose. Nothing renews automatically, and you are never charged again unless you buy another plan.

Delivery and support

Why did my email go to the spam folder?

Spam filters check the sender's domain, the sending server and the content. Using your own domain with SPF and DKIM, and a dedicated IP address, helps your emails reach the inbox. Content that looks like advertising or phishing is more likely to be filtered.

How can I send email using my own domain?

With a Normal subscription, you can send from an address at your own domain. Set up SPF and DKIM for your domain, or simply add our default DNS records to it.

I received an anonymous email I did not want. What can I do?

If you don't want to receive emails sent through 5yMail, you can unsubscribe by adding your email address to our protected email list.

Is the service working right now?

See our server and service health page.
